Transcription: July 3rd, 8.18 am. I'm in a taxi en route to my family's home. Tanabatha decorations line the streets. I've come to record the festival for my students using this prototype electronic diary. It's working okay so far. The festival is based on a Chinese myth, a Romeo and Juliet story about two lovers who are cast out into the sky. Once a year they meet when their stars come together on the seventh day of the seventh month.
